This guide is designed to help you navigate and utilize all the features of 2FAS Auth efficiently. Whether you’re a new user or need a refresher, this tutorial has got you covered.
Introduction: Understanding 2FA, TOTP, and HOTP
Before diving into the app’s functionalities, it’s crucial to understand what 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication), TOTP (Time-Based One-Time Password), and HOTP (HMAC-Based One-Time Password) are. These technologies enhance your digital security. For detailed explanations, click here.
Adding a token in 2FAS Auth is a straightforward process that can be done in several ways to suit your preference. Here’s how you can add a new 2FA token to your account:
Start the Process:
Android: Tap the plus icon located at the bottom right corner of the screen.
iOS: Tap the plus icon located at the top right corner of the screen.
Choose the Addition Method:
Scan a QR Code: Simply point your camera towards the QR code provided by the service. The app will automatically recognize and capture the code.
Upload a QR Code Image: If you have a screenshot or an image of the QR code, you can upload it directly from your phone.
Manual Entry:
For manual entry, start by typing in the service name. Then, enter your secret key.
In the ‘Other Settings’ section, you can add additional information, such as the service login, which is particularly useful if you are adding more than one 2FA code for a single service.
Here, you can also adjust advanced settings like the OTP type (TOTP, HOTP, or STEAM), the algorithm, the number of code digits, and the code’s duration time. Note: Adjust these settings only if the service you’re adding specifically requires it.
Use the ‘Guide Me’ Option: For detailed, step-by-step instructions tailored to a specific service, use the ‘Guide Me’ option. Just tap, select the service you want to add, and follow the steps provided.
Completing the Addition:
After selecting your method and following the steps, the service will be added to your 2FAS Auth app.
You’ll see the new 2FA code in the bottom sheet. Most services require you to input this code as part of the setup process.
When you close the bottom sheet, 2FAS Auth will automatically scroll to your new code and highlight it for easy access.
By following these steps, you can add tokens to 2FAS Auth efficiently, enhancing the security of your online accounts with two-factor authentication.

Settings
The Settings in 2FAS Auth provide a range of options to customize your experience and enhance app security. Here’s a detailed overview of what you can find and adjust in the Settings:
2FAS Auth Backup:
Automatic Sync/Backup: Enable this to automatically sync your data with your private cloud (Google Drive for Android and iCloud for iOS).
Import and Export 2FAS Auth Backup Files: Manage your backup files here. Note that these files, with the extension *.2fas, are essentially text files in JSON format. If you choose to export the file with a password, the data within will be encrypted and unreadable in a text editor. However, if exported without a password, the file remains unencrypted, and all data, including sensitive information like your secret keys, is readable.
Security:
Enable PIN Code: Set up a 4/6-digit PIN for app access. Remember this PIN as it cannot be restored if forgotten.
Change PIN: If you wish to change your PIN, you will need your old PIN to set up a new one.
Lockout Settings: Customize the app lock behavior, such as duration and conditions for locking the app after incorrect PIN entries. Remember, this feature is accessible only after a PIN has been established.
Enable Biometrics: Use fingerprint scanning for Android and iOS, or FaceID for iOS, as an additional security measure. Remember, this feature is accessible only after a PIN has been established.
Allow screenshots (Android Only): Android users have the option to allow screenshots within the app, which automatically disables after 5 minutes for security.
Appearance:
Theme Setting (Android Only): Choose between dark, light, or automatic theme settings.
List Style: Choose your preferred list style. The default style features larger codes with more spacing, which is visually appealing but displays fewer codes on one screen. The compact style, on the other hand, presents smaller codes with less spacing between them, allowing more codes to be visible on a single screen. Select the one that best fits your viewing preference and the length of your tokens list.
Active Search: By enabling this option, you activate the search bar and keyboard immediately when you access the tokens list. This means as soon as you open the list, you can start typing to search, without the need to tap on the search bar first. It streamlines the process, making it quicker and more efficient to locate specific tokens, especially useful if you have a lengthy list of entries.
Google Drive Sync Reminder (Android Only): Choose to be reminded about enabling Google Drive sync or disable the reminders. Disabling Google Drive sync might increase the risk of losing all your tokens in case of phone loss/reset or uninstalling 2FAS Auth, so it’s recommended to keep the sync active for data safety.
Hide Tokens: Enable this feature to hide all tokens on the list. You need to tap a token to view it.
Import Tokens: Easily Import Tokens From Other 2FA Apps: 2FAS Auth allows you to conveniently import tokens from a variety of popular 2FA applications. To do this, simply tap on the app from which you want to import tokens and follow the on-screen instructions. The supported apps include:
