Configuring two-factor authentication

That is what we call our method which increases the protection of the login process. It means that you are required to enter a 6-digit token as the second step of the login process. This token is being randomly generated by our 2FAS app.

To protect your account by using 2FAS tokens, you are required to go through 3 steps:

  1. Download our 2FAS app.
  2. Log in to the WordPress dashboard and go to the 2FAS page. Make sure to choose 2FAS Tokens tab. Scan the QR code by 2FAS app.
  3. Now you are required to enter the 6-digit verification token and press the Enable button.

That is all. Now you are protected by the two-factor authentication. To see how it works, log out and log in again.

Notice: Please take note that it is important to have properly set time in the smartphone, because our tokens are based on time. If you are interested to get to know more, click here.

Notice: When a new 2FAS Tokens configuration is being set up, you are being logged out from your WordPress account on every other device and all your trusted devices are being removed. In practice, it happens when you configure 2FAS Tokens for the first time or change your current QR code and make a configuration again.

Offline codes are an additional authentication method. Similarly to 2FAS tokens, you are required to enter a verification code in the second step of the login process.

What is the difference between 2FAS tokens and offline codes?

There are a few differences between offline codes and 2FAS tokens:

  1. Offline codes are only an additional method of authentication, which you can use when you do not have access to your phone.
  2. Offline codes and 2FAS tokens have different formats.
  3. You have a limited amount of offline codes which is being decreased each time you use an offline code during logging in. They are generated automatically. You generate a new set of offline codes on your own and save them in a safe place when they are going to be finished.

Do I really need this?

It depends on your needs. You should consider that you can lose access to your phone. There are a lot of reasons, for example: an empty battery, broken or stolen phone. Offline codes are a protection method against such situations.

It is not the only backup method of the authentication. We also offer backup codes via text message and voice call. Click here to get to know more.

How to generate offline codes

You can generate offline codes by logging in to WordPress dashboard and going to 2FAS page. Offline codes are available on your personal settings page in the Backup codes - offline tab. Make sure you save these codes because you cannot display them anymore. You can download a file, print codes, or just rewrite them.

SMS/VMS backup codes are another authentication method. Similarly to 2FAS tokens and offline codes methods, you are required to enter a verification code in the second step of the login process. You get this code via text message or voice call depending on your choice during the login process.

How do I configure SMS/VMS backup codes?

Log in to the WordPress dashboard and go to the 2FAS page. Then choose Backup codes - SMS/VMS tab. To enable this method, fill in the form input with your phone number and press Send token via SMS. You will get a verification code via text message. Enter it in the second input form and press Enable.

You do not need to enter the verification code every time you log in to WordPress dashboard. You can add your current device and browser to the trusted devices list. Then you do not need to enter a verification code when you log in on that particular device and browser.

There are two ways you can add a trusted device:

  1. You can add a trusted device by pressing the Add this device button below the trusted devices list.

  2. You can add a trusted device by checking the checkbox in the second step of the login process.
